Greetings everyone,
This week I am in Chicago preparing for the Western Martial Arts Workshop in Racine, Wisconsin. This is a superb Western Martial Arts event put on by the Chicago Swordplay Guild and is one of the oldest running events of its kind in the world.
This week in our classes both at the school and online we are continuing our exploration of rapier receiving (Green Cord), cutting lines and precision with sidesword (Blue Cord), quadrant defences with longsword at Red Cord, and the use of Dente al Cinghiara with the longsword in our focus program.
In next week's videos look forward topics relevant to what I'm cover at WMAW. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at the event and to the rest of you, good training!

Dente al Cinghiara or the "Boar's Tooth" is a powerful guard for both thrusting and deflecting. In this week's class we explore the core actions of this powerful guard.

In this week's classes we first look at how to defend ourselves from attacks using the principles of finding and gaining. We then look at how to take control of a situation as the opponent approaches and maintain control of the fight as they attempt to find their way out of the trap.
Blue Cord (Level 2)

In this week's classes we look at how to strike to various lines and targets and how to approach striking at multiple targets and moving targets.
Red Cord (Level 3)

We are continuing to explore defences from various quadrants against lines of attack this week. The attacks we're focusing on now are the rising (sottani) and midline (mezzani) blows.
