This month in classes at Academie Duello

We have an exciting month ahead of us at Academie Duello and on Duello.TV. In the Mastery Program we'll be moving back toward the rapier, in the Warrior Fitness program defensive conditioning will be the name of the game, and our focus programs will continue to look at guards, now with a focus on how to defeat them. Within the Mastery Program, look for the following:

Green Cord - Rapier Cutting

Though the late period rapier is often seen as a thrusting only type weapon there are many occasions where a cut can serve you. In this month we'll focus on the fundamentals of solid cutting mechanics and how to employ the cut to control the fight and recover control when it has been lost.

Blue - Voids

Perhaps one of the most artful aspects of Italian Rapier the "girate" (turns of the body) and passes beneath the sword are techniques where a fencer avoids being struck through movement and creates new opportunities for counter-attack.

Red - Unorthodox Rapier Postures

To further challenge and build comprehension of the underlying rapier principles, this month for red cord breaks down the orthodox positions and challenges students to apply foundational principles in a diversity of postures not typically applied to the late period rapier.
